V WATH BROW HORNETS(AWAY)4/2/2006 CUMBERLAND CUP ROUND 2

A pulsating Jennings Cumberland Cup match at Wath Brow Hornets finished 24-12 in favour of the home side.

Maryport looked dead and buried when the Brow cruised to a 12-point lead after 25 minutes with tries for Matthew Whalley and Gary Brown, Dave Byers converting each score.

But it looked like being a different matter at the break, when the Port had levelled matters through touchdowns by Ben Waugh and Mark Foster, both of which Simon Pattinson improved.

Wath Brow, though, edged back in front when Francis King nipped over five minutes after the restart.

And a place in the third round was sealed when James Toman crossed in the final quarter, Byers adding his fourth goal of the game
